The collections of modern European painting led us to the Barnes Foundation in the suburb of Merion. Specifically built by Mr. Barnes to house his collection, each room was composed according to his vision of colours, motives and intercultural influences. Admission is strictly limited to a small number of visitors three days a week. Our appliance four months ahead for May 26 2006, 9.30 AM was accepted for 10.00 AM. Any belongings had to be locked for the time of the visit - with no coat, the house was a freezer and after three hours, we were undercooled and searched for a coffee shop, oops ... Photography was forbidden.
Philly, as they say, currently undergoes a city revival. Below some impressions from the restored historic district.
